St. Paul's

Conducted a survey to elicit feedback from residents on determining the future direction of St. Paul's

Worked with the St. Paul's Advisory Committee to develop recommendations for the building

Committed to developing a cost effective solution for St. Paul's that will be supported by the vast majority of residents

Increase security around the St. Paul's grounds and main building

Recreation

Approved a new turf field at St. Paul's that will open in Spring 2026

Approved the installation of a new slide at our pool that will be ready for the 2026 season

Resurfaced the floor at Cluett Hall

Hired a new Superintendent of Recreation

Continuing efforts to improve the grass fields at St. Paul’s

Active two way dialogue between the Village and athletic, musical, and STEAM oriented organizations to make sure we are in touch with the needs of our various affinities groups

Fixed the warped flooring, roofing and outdoor grounds at the Senior Center

Library & Education

Active involvement with Library Board and management to improve programs and cleanliness of the facilities

Upgrade and replacement of library doors; enhanced roof; upgrade of library carpet and HVAC; installed planters by front for additional security, and improved lighting

Expanding book collection

Increased dialogue with the Board of Education regarding programming and the efficient and effective use of properties and programs
Traffic Safety
-
Implemented innovative techniques such as at North Avenue to reduce cut through traffic
-
Engaged consultants to design a comprehensive plan to reduce traffic in the Mott section
-
Rapidly responds to resident concerns on traffic safety leading to the installation of speed humps, additional stop signs and other techniques to reduce speed and improve safety
Fire Safety
-
Approved the renovation of the Edgemere fire house which is necessary for the safety of residents who live in the West and Estates
-
Through value engineering, the renovation costs were reduced by millions of dollars as compared to initial estimates

Police Safety
-
Improve police oversight and monitoring of youth congregations on 7th Street
-
Obtained a grant from NYS for over $450,000 to improve our crime prevention technology
-
Extend outreach and inclusiveness to all groups within the Village and surrounding communities
-
Assist efforts with GCPD to obtain drones to enable the Village to have an eye in the sky

Water
-
Worked with water department to complete lead service line inventory
-
Continuing to educate residents on the issues associated with lead service lines while pursuing funding options for their replacement

Casino
-
Led the efforts against the proposed mega casino at the Nassau Hub
-
Initiated two lawsuits to invalidate the 42-year license to LVS and the rezoning by the Town of Hempstead for gambling
-
Trustees spoke numerous times at public hearings on the proposed casino and with local media
​
Beautification
-
Made the 7th Street downtown a more vibrant, clean and welcoming place
-
Renovated the historic Toll House and is moving forward with the renovation of the Water Works building
-
Educating residents on the importance of saving our trees
-
Placed a moratorium on subdivisions and will soon be implementing new zoning codes that protect the Village's character and values

Community

Positive working relationship with our four Property Owners' Associations

Organized festivals and community events with the Chamber of Commerce and POAs to bring our community together.

Worked with residents to revise the policy on sidewalk replacements that saved residents thousands of dollars
